Random Thoughts, #whatever

I feel like I seldom blog, though when I look at my history, it appears this is now my 48th blog post (how did I get to that many?), and at least of late, it looks like I've been managing to write something about once a week. Odd, isn't it?

Getting Something Done

Doesn't it just figure? I spent about 45 minutes, yesterday, putting in Previous and Next links in all my blog entries manually, and today, Arazyr finds a paging module for Drupal, and sets it up, making that 45 minutes of work moot. I'd like to make it clear I'm not complaining about the update - it'll save me having to do that manually, for the rest of the run of my blog - I just sort of suspect that if I'd just commented that I'd like such a feature, that I'd have been waiting a couple more weeks.

Hiccup in the Schedule

The schedule worked quite well for about 3 weeks, then hit bumpy ground, it seems. My friend had to change both the day and the time that she comes over to help with KatyBeth, and while I'm still grateful for the help, it doesn't work out quite as well for me, as before. Plus, and this is really the primary thing - KatyBeth has started getting up earlier, on a regular basis, meaning I have only naptime in which to try to get things done, and I don't get that, if I'm wiped out enough that I also need to sleep.

Huzzah for the Schedule

I've been on my new schedule for about two weeks now, and by all appearances, it is working! Occasionally, there is a task that doesn't get done, but I usually manage to catch up on the weekends, and even if I don't, I manage to get it the next week. Even not getting up before KatyBeth (gotta get some newer pictures posted...) in the mornings for the last few days hasn't hurt things too much.

Exhausted

KatyBeth did not take a nap, today. That is, she was up from about 9:30 this morning, until about 9:00 this evening, with barely 10 minutes of sleep in between, and I dearly hope the sleeping she's doing now is for the night, rather than just a nap, because I'm pretty wiped out.

Wiser Than I Knew

My schedule that I made has 10 things on it that I'm aiming to do each week, including writing and drawing, two things that I used to do (with wildly different levels of proficiency, in my opinion) that I haven't been able to make time for for quite a while. I did not include things like washing diapers because that gets done as needed and, thank God, KatyBeth can't get in the way of that too awfully much.

Stalled Coming Out of The Gate

Doesn't it just figure? Last night, I finished my "resolution" entry, then started turning out the lights and such, in preparation for going to bed, filled with resolution for the next day. I was just thinking about how I would go check on KatyBeth, who was sleeping on the futon in her room, and transfer her to her crib, when I heard a squeak, and saw a small figure toddling into the hall. I went and picked her up, and thought for a moment that she was actually going to just go back to sleep on my shoulder. Suffice it to say, she didn't.

Alright! That's It! Time for a 2009 Resolution

I don't usually get into the whole New Year's Resolution thingy, but I think that I'm about due for a change in my life, and it approximately coincides. I need a schedule. Not an hour-by-hour schedule (I'm not fool enough to think I could manage that, with a not-especially predictable toddler), but a day by day schedule. Such as: Dishes on Monday, Vacuuming on Tuesday, Clean bathroom on Wednesday, Accounts on Thursday, Writing on Friday (maybe?). I'm going to set my watch alarm to get up a couple hours earlier than I have been, of late, on a daily basis.

Where Does the Time Go?

I feel like I'm behind on everything. This is largely due to the fact that I have a clever and curious toddler, who has a talent for getting into anything I must take out of anywhere, to get something done.

Have Yourself A Healthy Little Christmas

First off, in my last post I promised I'd pick up with the Saturday evening where my narrative ended. Well, it has been long enough that I've mostly forgotten what I wanted to say, aside from the fact that we went to see a play that was put on by the university where my mother works, and in which she was in the chorus... in very bad weather. KatyBeth was very good, as one-year-olds at theatre events go, climbing relatively quietly between my lap and those of Arazyr and my brother and his wife.
