Feedback Guidelines

It has come to my attention that there is a bit of confusion as to the kinds of feedback I am interested in, so I thought I'd make a post in the group for my stuff in general, to clarify.

At this point I am primarily interested in:
  • Discussion of plot
  • Discussion of characters: motivations, whether things seem in character, etc
  • Dialogue
Things I am somewhat interested in:
  • Grammar issues - I may catch these, but I believe grammar mistakes seriously compromise the clarity of writing, so they are not "fiddly bits"
  • Narrative: is it getting the point across, and is the flow ok
    Please don't:
  • Provide "copy reading" where to make a new paragraph, etc, unless the errors really make the section unclear. In my creative process, during story creation is not the time to address these - it draws energy away from making the story, to address "fiddly bits"
  • Offer specific suggestions for rephrasing, unless I specifically ask. Telling me that you think perhaps I should rephrase something is fine - just don't tell me HOW to rephrase it.

I hope this helps. Thank you all for the time, effort, and interest that you graciously put in, helping me with my creative endeavors.
