Qorl

Qorl was a TIE Fighter Pilot at the time of the Battle of Yavin. His TIE was shot down, however, and crashed on Yavin IV. His left arm was seriously injured, but he survived. No one ever noticed he was there, so he lived alone in the jungle for twenty years before the Jedi Academy was constructed there, and he was discovered by Luke's neice and nephew -- Jaina and Jacen Solo. The twins rebuilt his TIE, and they let him go, thinking they had convinced him that the war was over.

However, he encountered the Shadow Academy, and joined up with the remnants of the Empire there. They replaced his arm with a droid arm, and he encountered the Young Jedi Knights several more times before the Shadow Academy was destroyed.

The reason I decided to make a custom action figure out of this character is because I didn't think anybody else was likely to! 8^) I wanted to make a custom figure that nobody else had done, and Qorl was one of the best characters I could think of that hadn't already been done.

I used a TIE Fighter Pilot for the torso, legs, right arm, helmet and blaster. The left arm came from a 4-LOM. (Via boil-and-swap.) The head took a little more work. At first, I was just going to use a Han Solo head, but it didn't look old enough for someone who's spent twenty years marooned on a jungle planet. So I took an Obi-Wan head, cut off the hair, cut the face out of the Han head, and put Han's face on Ben's hair. A little filler putty and some paint, and it's perfect!

I'm actually still in the process of hollowing out the helmet. It doesn't fit over the head yet, but I'm hoping to get it to eventually.
