Nutrition?

One thing about nursing a baby is that it has a tendency to make one rather hungry, fairly frequently. After all, a nursing mother is still "eating for two" - even more so than during gestation, in fact, as the baby requires more calories as an independent person than as a fetus. Therefore, I snack a lot. I just finished a rather large serving of yogurt. Now, when I eat yogurt, I have a tendency to load it up with miscellaneous embellishments - whatever is available.

Blankets and Job Hunts and Baby - Oh My!

The "baby cousin blanket" is now nearly 30 inches long - I *might* actually get this done, in time! (: Yes, you saw that correctly - I do make my typed smilies backwards. I have done that since my college days, when I discovered that doing so made it easier to make a smiley sticking its tongue out in an impudent manner -> c(: Anyway, back to the blanket... One thing I find puzzling is the fact that it is measuring 37 inches wide, without the final edging. The pattern says it is supposed to end up 37 inches wide, AFTER the final edging. I swatched, I swear I did!

Cranking on the blanket

It has, amazingly, been a fairly productive week. When it began, the baby blanket I have in progress had a mere 6 inches on it. It now is approximately a foot longer. If I can keep going at this rate, I may actually finish it on time. Also on my list of accomplishments are: doing enough cleaning and rearranging in KatyBeth's room to accommodate her crib (delivered by her grandpa, and assembled by him and Daddy) and making significant progress on whittling down Sara-yama (Dish Mountain, which has been sitting at the side of my sink for some time).

Truth in Knitting

I'm going to admit right up front that I knit largely with (gasp!) acrylic. From various knitting podcasts I've listened to, and various knit blogs I've read, it seems that that places me "on the wrong side of the tracks", knitting-wise.

Happy Easter to All!

It has been a good day. Aside from getting up quite early to feed my baby girl, and not being able to get back to sleep much, before going to church, that is. I did manage to get a nap in, in the afternoon though. KatyBeth (yes, I spell my baby's nickname differently than her daddy, Arazyr, does) looked absolutely adorable (as she always does) in a pink spring dress that my mother bought her, and a little white sweater that Arazyr's mom made for her, though the latter is still actually a bit too big on her. This is Michigan, though, and on Friday, we had quite the load of snow.

Job Hunting and Ravelry

I had an interview today. It was with a recruiter, concerning a position in Southfield. Sounds like a good deal. I hope this doesn't go the way of the last really cool potential job I heard about - that recruiter submitted my resume to their client, and I never heard from anybody, and the recruiter seemed to practically drop off the face of the earth, shortly afterwards.

A long short day

I've had a mild headache, practically all day. ): Nothing I've tried seems to have worked for long, and it has made the rather short day (I was in bed, except for getting up to feed the baby a couple of times, until noon). My absolutely adorable baby girl, while she is a good baby, has been rather demanding of attention, today. I've really gotten nothing in particular done, other than a bit of knitting on a pair of socks for Arazyr.

... and so it begins

Let's face it, my life full - quite full. I'm married (for nearly 7 years, now), have a beautiful baby girl (now just short of 4 months old), and am hunting for a job (I was doing contract work, and my contract got cut while I was on maternity leave).
